About Me: I am an independent consultant, marketer, and software developer, currently operating as an independent contractor while on the move between client sites and points of interest in the United States and Asia. My parents, Mark and Angela, wanted to name me “Woody” after Woody Guthrie, but at the last second, they got cold feet and put Benjamin Woodruff Schneider on the certificate. Shortly after, they repented and called me Woody since the day I was born. I grew up in the small town of Grinnell, Iowa, graduated high-school in 2004 and left to go to school at Bates College in Maine. I left Bates to live in Russia and attend the Philological Program at St. Petersburg State University. From there, I transferred to Brown University in 2006, declaring a concentration in Physics. When I wasn’t furiously studying, I kept myself busy by making sure I always had a few projects going. Not the least of which was the planning of a giant bicycling trip across Asia, with my dear friend Scott Norton. The trip was a great success and version 2.0 is already well underway. So if you, dear reader, know of any mind blowing places between Tehran and Tokyo that are somewhat off the beaten path, by all means email me. Please. I love to travel, in cities and in the wilderness. I think one of the best things for my head is to immerse it in unfamiliar situations. So I try to challenge myself with as wide an array of experiences as possible. This website is my attempt to document some of those experiences. The site is still under quite a bit of construction so beware of quirks. If you find a problem, feel free to email me and I’ll fix it as soon as I can.
